THE MINDSET EDIT

Quote of the Day

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

Buddha

Prioritizing Yourself Is NOT Selfish

Today, I wanted to touch on a topic that's incredibly important but often overlooked: self-love and prioritizing oneself without feeling selfish.

In our journey towards healing our underlying emotional root causes, shifting our mindset and healing limiting beliefs, it's easy to get caught up in constantly giving to others, whether it's our time, energy, or resources. While generosity and kindness are virtues to be celebrated, it's essential to remember that we cannot pour from an empty cup.

Imagine trying to give your best effort while operating at only 10% of your capacity. It's simply unsustainable and ultimately unfulfilling. By neglecting our own needs and well-being, we not only harm ourselves but also limit our ability to truly support those around us.

Self-love isn't about being self-centered or egotistical. Instead, it's about recognizing our own worth and taking proactive steps to nurture our physical, emotional, and mental health. When we prioritize ourselves, we become better equipped to show up for others authentically and meaningfully.

Think of it this way: just as we're instructed to secure our own oxygen masks before assisting others on an airplane, we must prioritize self-love to be of genuine service to our community. It's not an act of selfishness but rather a necessary foundation for sustainable giving and growth.

So, I encourage each of you to reflect on how you can incorporate more self-love into your daily lives. Whether it's setting aside time for self-care rituals, practicing mindfulness, or seeking support when needed, remember that investing in yourself is a worthy and noble endeavor.

How can you give to yourself first before giving to others? It doesn’t need to be elaborate. You can give yourself a mini hug, look in the mirror and say something nice to yourself, or even just take 3 big deep breaths before tending to your children, answering the slack messages, or giving advice to a family member.
Pour into your cup first.

Let's strive to operate at 100%, not just for ourselves but for those around us. You are helping nobody when you are operating on empty.

Love,

Stephanie
