Lions Mane

What is it?

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a type of edible mushroom that is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is also known as bearded tooth fungus, hedgehog mushroom, brain mushroom, or pom pom mushroom.

The mushroom has a unique appearance, with long, flowing, white or cream-colored spines that resemble a lion's mane. Lion's mane mushroom is often classified as both a nootropic and an adaptogen. It is sometimes called the “smart mushroom.”

Lion's mane mushroom has been studied for its ability to improve cognitive function, including memory and focus. It does this by promoting the growth of new brain cells and increasing levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

How to add into your daily routine?

Lion's Mane is a versatile mushroom that can be consumed in a variety of forms, including fresh, dried, or in supplement form. It has a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a meaty texture that makes it a popular ingredient in soups, stews, and stir-fries.

Here are some examples of how you can consume it:

  1. Coffee: One popular way to use lion's mane mushroom is to add it to coffee. You can use a powdered form of lion's mane mushroom and mix it into your coffee, or you can brew coffee with lion's mane mushroom extract. This can give your coffee a unique, earthy flavor. There are also many Lion's Mane coffee blends available on the market.

  2. Smoothies and drinks: Lion's mane mushroom can also be added to smoothies or other drinks. You can use a powdered form of lion's mane mushroom and blend it in.

  3. Food: Lion's mane mushroom can be used in cooking in a variety of ways. You can sauté it with other vegetables and serve it as a side dish, or you can add it to soups, stews, and stir-fries for added flavor and nutrition.

As always, you want to make sure you are buying from a reputable brand that is organic and does 3rd party testing. This goes for all supplements that you buy not just Lions Mane. This is the one that I use.

I put it in my coffee every morning and by combining Lions Mane with caffeine it helps support both cognitive function and energy levels.
