Stop Taking Advice From the Highlight Reel
People love to say, "Don't take advice from someone whose life you wouldn't want." It's solid advice—but most people apply this only to surface-level things like money, career, or Instagram highlights.
I know plenty of rich, “successful” people who are absolutely miserable. People with the job title, the house, the lifestyle—but lacking inner peace, fulfillment, and have a constant ache for something more.
If you’re modeling your life after someone based only on what they look like they have, don’t be surprised when you end up with the same emptiness they carry. Their bank account might be full, but is their heart? Do they have love, purpose, and peace? Or are they stuck chasing something external to fill an internal void?
We live in a world that glorifies fitting in just enough while quietly discouraging anything that disrupts the status quo.
Stand out—but not too much.
Have an opinion—but don’t go too far.
Chase your dreams—but only the ones that look good to others.
Be different—but not cringe.
It’s a balancing act that keeps us stuck in fear—fear of standing out, fear of being judged, fear of truly living.
True fulfillment doesn’t come from playing by those rules. It comes from designing a life that feels good to you, not just one that looks good to the world. That means seeking out mentors, role models, and advice from people whose lives align with the whole package—joy, love, purpose, peace—not just the shiny exterior.
The world doesn’t need more people following the same script. It needs more people brave enough to write their own. So, stop chasing what looks right. Start creating what feels right. That’s where the real magic begins.
With love and gratitude,
Stephanie
